For a while now, I have been studying the Law of Attraction. The law of Attraction states that you will attract into your life--whether wanted or unwanted--whatever you give your energy, focus, and attention to. This means that if focus on negative outcomes, you are, in fact, influencing and attracting those very outcomes. Ever since the movie “The Secret” came out, the Law of Attraction has been getting a lot of publicity. Even Oprah has dedicated numerous shows to the subject.
Of course, focusing on the positive is easier said than done. If you're like me, the negative thoughts crowd out a lot of the positive ones. This is fostered by almost every channel of information that we use. From news (murders are much more dramatic than a children's group visiting an elder care facility to visit with and cheer up the residents. If it bleeds, it leads, as they say.) to Facebook, just take a look at the slant of negative to positive coverage.
Meditation is supposed to help with the changing of your thoughts and vibrations. I have found that mediation does help me to quiet my mind, and makes it easier to focus on the positive . It helps me to be able to lessen my anxiety and worries, and instead move forward with things that will help me to feel better. Sometimes just being able to put the worry aside makes it easier to see what path I need to take to move forward.
I've found that when I work at focusing on the positive aspects of a situation, it's a lot easier to create your own good luck. It's kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy. Of, course, there will always be bad things that happen, but focusing on the positive makes it easier to keep forward momentum going, and of course, it makes you fell better! (Not seeing the downside...:-) )
Esther Hicks has a lot of great information on the Law of Attraction. I've been reading and listening to this material for a couple of years. Regardless of whether you believe in the transmission channel of the information or not, I've found the message to be filled with common sense. And like with most things, I take that what serves me, and disregard that which doesn't.
Self improvement is a life long process. You can always be better than you currently are, in all things. Challenge self-limiting beliefs, because most of them are not true at all.
